South Hills summer wrestling camp to be held at Harrison gym in June

The 2008 South Hills summer wrestling camp will be held for students in grades 1 through 12, from June 16 to June 20, at the Harrison Middle School auxiliary gym.

Two sessions are scheduled:

n Session I, for first through sixth graders, will run from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.

n Session II, for seventh through 12th graders, will run from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Session I will concentrate on basic moves and fundamental techniques of wrestling.

Session II will concentrate not only on technique, but also includes nutrition and weight lifting sessions.

Camp participants may move into other age group depending on experience.

The weekly camp directors and/or instructors will include:

n George McCormack -- Baldwin High School head wrestling coach.

McCormack was a two-time PIAA place finisher as a high school competitor, 18 years coaching experience.

He also was the 2001 WPIAL Section 5AAA "Coach of the Year."

n Mike Bilbie -- assistant wrestling coach at Baldwin High School.

Bilbie was a PIAA place finisher as a high school competitor, and finished with 100 career high school victories, He also was a national prep runner-up (Blair Academy).

n Blake Toki -- assistant wrestling coach at Baldwin High School.

Toki was a three-time section finalist, two-time section champion and a regional runner-up as a high school competitor. He also recorded 100 takedowns in a season two times.

He also was a Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic coach in 2006.

n Greg Wagner -- University of Michigan graduate. He is an assistant wrestling coach and assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of Michigan.

Wagner was a three-time NCAA All-American, and a U.S. Open freestyle place finisher in 2007. He ended his college career with a 134-37 record.

The registration fee for the summer camp is $80 per participant.

A non-refundable deposit of $25 is required by June 13 to ensure enrollment. The remainder will be due at check-in on June 20 at 8:30 am.

Camp T-shirts will be given to all participants.

Note: If instructors are unable to attend due to unusual circumstances, a comparative instructor will be provided.
