Shirley Jox
Whitehall resident and married 50 years

Shirley Mae Jox, 73, of Whitehall, died Thursday, July 10, 2008.

She was married for 50 years to Robert Jox; mother of Robert Jox II, Jamie (Rob) Zacour, Michele Jox and Stephen Jox; grandmother of Elysa, Olivia, Nate and Rachel.

Arthur Buono
Avid bowler

Arthur Nicholas Buono, 98, widower of Thelma "Pat" nee Nelson, died at the home of his daughter, Nelda Alderson, Monday, July 14, 2008.

Formerly of Dravosburg, West Mifflin, and Sun City, Ariz., Mr. Buono was born in the Bronx, N.Y., on May 20, 1910, the son of Joseph and Matilda nee DiDinato Buono, both immigrants from L'Aquila, Abruzzi Province, Italy.

He graduated from McKeesport High School in 1928 and was a co-owner with his brothers of the Buono Bros. Monument Company in Dravosburg.

He retired in 1978 and moved to Sun City, Ariz. The Lakeview Bowling Lanes employed him for more than 20 years and he retired again at age 90. He was a past longtime active member of the Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus of McKeesport.

He was an avid bowler, gardener, dancer and card player.

In addition to Pat, his wife of 65 years, he was preceded in death by his siblings Arch (Rose) Buono; Rita (Dewey) Vallance; Robert (Jean) Buono; and one sister Lillian (Bill) Hughes, who resides in Palm Coast, Fla.

He was the father of Nelda (Bernard) Barone Alderson of Jefferson Hills; Loy Stockman of Sun City; and Miriam (Joseph) Esteppe Palmer of Scottsdale, Ariz.; grandfather of Daneen Barone Welborn, Arthur (Annmarie), Samuel (Dana) and Michael (Kathy) Barone; Joseph Stockman (Kathy), John (Cindy), Jerry (Betty), Jeffrey (Rosemary), Julie (James) Wiltman, and James Stockman and Patricia (Michael) Arrington and Mark (Kathy) Esteppe.

He also was the great-grandfather of 18 and had two great-great grandchildren, including the late Madyson Council.

He also will be missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends.

Donald Klein
Whitehall resident

Donald Klein, 73, of Whitehall, died July 12, 2008.

He is survived by his wife Carol; sons Douglas (Diane) and D.J.; daughter Susan Klein Fine; also survived by his brother William, sister Dolores McGowan and five granddaughters.

He was a member of the First Evangelical Free Church of McKeesport.

Jean Monti
Married 62 years

Jean Monti, 84, of Baldwin Borough, died Saturday, July 12, 2008.

She was maried for 62 years to Elio Monti Sr.; mother of Camilla Monti and Elio (Mary) Monti Jr.; grandmother of Thomas, Joseph, Anthony, Dominic, Vincent, Kristin and Sonja; great-grandmother of Joseph and Monti; daughter of the late Dominic and Mary Presutti.

Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Irene Tomaszewski
Baldwin resident

Irene Tomaszewski, 82, of Baldwin, died Sunday, July 13, 2008.

She was the wife of 58 years to Anthony; mother of Sandy (George) Kalberer and Joan Siebert; grandmother of Alicia, Aubrey, George, Chris, Nathan, Roy, Timothy and the late Philip; great-grandmother of Philip Joseph.

Robert Schanck
Architect

Robert Schanck, 58, of Whitehall, died Monday, July 14, 2008.

He was the husband of Deborah Schanck; father of Nina (John) Ferraro of Erie, and Erin (John) Kuhns of Dormont; grandfather of Christian, Dominic, Nathan, TJ and Josie; son of Robert and the late Audrey Schanck of Arlington; brother of Barbara Baldwin, Mary Bauman, Steve Schanck and the late Audrey Staab. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Schanck was an architect with WTW Architects & Associates, as well as an avid Penn State fan.

She was the wife of Dr. Thomas Mutschler; mother of Natalie, Nicole, Claire and Benjamin; daughter of the late Benjamin and Ida (Vitelli) Meredith; sister of Joyce (Jim) Bernard and Diane (Lorry) Yednak; aunt of Rebekah Barbazos, Rachael Gitas, Jimmy Bernard and Michelle Danielson; Jennifer, Matthew, Brian and Katelyn and Rebecca; great-aunt of Brandon, Jesse, Josh, Jimmy, Devin, Logan and Shannon; great-great-aunt of Samuel.
