Let us not forget the promise of Nancy Pelosi who said that the Democratic Congress would get the price of fuel down. A year has passed and Nancy and Congress are sitting on their hands while we experience record high fuel costs. I understand the importance of alternative energy. However, those energy sources will not be available for years so we must find more oil to fuel our vehicles and sustain our economy until the transition. The only way to do that is to allow drilling for oil off our coasts, in Alaska, and anywhere else where oil deposits may exist. It is a national security issue. We needed a comprehensive energy plan YESTERDAY but it is Congress that sits idly by. They are irresponsible and have absolutely no leadership ability.

Lifelong and proud's picture

In 1995 the Republican controlled congress passed drilling in ANWAR(Artic National Wildlife Refuge) in Alaska. Bill Clinton said it would take 10 years to get the oil flowing so he vetoed the bill. That would have put ANWAR in full production three years ago. It sure would be nice if we had that oil flowing now wouldn't it. George W has made a lot of mistakes to cost this country a boat load of money but this one is not on him. Blame the obstructionists who continue to block off areas of our country to drilling and exploration and refuse to allow another refinery to be built. As Catalyst says alternatives are the future but we need oil now. You see what Corn Ethanol is doing to the price of food. Some one in Washington needs to move off of dead center allow more drilling. Screw the Caribou, Drill Alaska.
