The Ballet Academy of Pittsburgh proudly presents its second annual Spring Celebration at the Eddy Theatre on the campus of Chatham University on Friday, May 9, at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 10, at 7:00 p.m. In celebration of Pittsburgh’s 250th birthday, this year’s production will feature a brand new ballet choreographed to the music of famous composer Stephen Collins Foster. Perhaps the most celebrated of Pittsburgh’s composers, he wrote such pieces as Oh! Susanna, Beautiful Dreamer and My Old Kentucky Home.

Also on the program are the Prologue and Garland Waltz sections from the timeless classic The Sleeping Beauty, as well as excerpts from current Broadway hits Footloose and Hairspray. Finally, the Spring Celebration will feature several new works, including choreography by Ballet Academy of Pittsburgh Artistic Directors Lindsay and Steven Piper to Glazunov’s The Seasons.
