Who are the real criminals in Brentwood?

For weeks now we have heard of how Mary Dytko had used a Sams Club Credit card (issued in her name with her picture on it) to make personal purchases. She was arrested and taken into custody with all the cameras and reporters notified well in advance. The papers were at the distribution centers at around 3am stating Dytko was arrested when in fact the detectives arrived with their personal team of photographers and reporters at about 7 am to make it as much as a spectical as they could possibly make it. And wouldn't you know it, the Chief was in his office at that ungodly hour. You couldn't find him when a bartender was shot at a local bar and he hasn't worked an honest fourty hours in a long long time. You might wonder how I can say that and be so certain. If you look at his cell phone bill(which is public record) you will see where he was on what day at what hour in what location. For some reason the Chief spends an awful amount of time in Pleasant Hills and Clairton when he was to be working in Brentwood. Last time I checked, it is a crime to falsify you time record and get paid for days that you took off to go golfing or visit establishments that idelize monkeys. Every time the Chief takes a day off and does not record it as a vacation day or sick day it costs Brentwood over $300.00 per day! Add it up folks, that would average over $1000.00 a month. And you call Dytko the Criminal. Dytko paid every penny of her invoice.
Then there is Dawn Lane, the district attorneys key witness. I guess Dawn forgot to mention to the District Attorney that she also made personal purchases along with another council member Dawn Symborsky. I assure you that there were others but the Borough Solisitor will not release the records till after the Dytko trial.
Tell me, how do you feel about the Chief of Police and his wife, the Mayors wife and son getting a golf outing paid for by a convicted fellon. Each ticket was $280.00! That adds upto $1120.00!! What does the former fellon expect in return? Not to mention there is police policy about accepting gifts. I guess that doesn't apply to the Chief.
I was told that the application for Chief Butelli is also missing. This was found out after the Solisitor made several attempts to view it. Has anyone asked the Chief if he was convicted of a crime prior to being employed at Brentwood? What is he hiding?
Then there is the former tax collector that never collected a dime from their spouse's earnings for all the years as they were tax collector. It appears that Council has all the evidence but has yet to act on it. Why?
There is much much more but I am getting cramps in my fingers. I'll let all the others try to dispute me.

As someone who is new to the town and new to this site, I am just wondering how you know all this information? I have heard about the council person when I moved here, but I never heard anything about the Chief or our Mayor. Also who is the convicted felon that paid for golfing? How would you know that the Chiefs application is missing or how many hours he is working in a week? Isn't a chief on salary? That would mean he doesn't use a time card, he gets paid the same amount everytime he is paid. I didn't think that would be made public record. Or the accusations that a tax collectors spouse never paid their taxes? How do you go about finding out about another council member and the secretary or treasure, whoever she is, using a credit card for personal purchases? Just wondering how you could find out this information and how can I find out this information? I would like to know what kind of place I am living in.

What you have been reading in the papers and watching on TV is no more than a political smear to discredit Ms. Dytko. I feel bad for you if you invested your hard earned money and just moved here. I would be happy to give you documentation on everything mentioned here tonight, just leave me your address and true name and I will mail it to you!
I think that if you have proof instead of sending it to me, make it publically known. I am sure alot of residents here would like to hear about this and see the proof, I know I would. I don't want to get caught up in the fighting that is going on here on this site, it seems like there are pleanty of angry people on this site. I would just like to know why people wouldn't make this stuff publically known? I know I am going to attend the next council meeting, I think I should get to know the people running this borough personally since people are spreading vicious rumors about them, or maybe it's the truth, but I was always taught, don't believe something is real unless you can hold it in your hands.

Welcome to the area.What you see here does not represent all of this area.Not everyone spreads mean and hurtful things about their neighbors.Most people in this area are good people and voice opinions in a polite manner.Your approach to this issue is the best way-get to know your community leaders,form your own opinions,and ignore the ignorance around you.This site used to be a great place to exchange views,but has become a format of anger and hatred.

I guess it was perfectly okay what some had done to Dytko. I guess the reporters that were there at 7am at her home was NOT planed out in advance. If this was anything it was a "Civil Case" and not a Criminal Case where you take away someone in cuffs. Not to mention the TV cameras at the GENERAL MAIL FACILITY JUST HAPPENED TO SHOW UP I have no problem with you or George but try to be honest with yourself and the people reading this blog!

New2town, Ms. Dytko is entirely responsible for her own disgrace and has been at it for a number of years. A decade ago, she pleaded to several felonies. Was 'certain people' in Brentwood responsible for her doing that? Nope, I would guess it was her sense of entitlement and greed. Now she's supposedly involved (again) with (surprise) a case of credit card fraud, except this time according to you can't handle the truth, the DA's office and 'certain people' in Brentwood somehow forced her to make personal purchases at Sam's Club in order to politically smear her. But we should not feel that she was in the wrong, because according to 'get a grip on reality', opps, I mean 'you can't handle the truth' she's not so bad, at least she paid her invoice. Well, what a saint. I am waiting for all the things she purchased temporarily on the Brentwood dime to show up at the boro building lot. Considering that my tax dollars rented this stuff to her for a while I should be entitled to a percentage of its usage. Please!
For someone who continually rants about the importance of honesty in their comments does it not bother you that she was not honest about her education in acquiring her positions?
For one who proclaims to live by the truth, does it not bother you that she did not disclose her former convictions as well? Was the DA or 'certain people' in Brentwood holding the pen when she completed her job and political resumes.
YCHTT, you can't handle the truth! You are devoting your life defending a known felon. What's interesting is that you feel it necessary to bring up other people and issues in order to make your point. Firstly, not everyone in this town is bad and I'm not sure if anything you brought up is even true, but I will tell you this, by doing this does not strengthen your case. Let me make this clear. I think it is a fleeting attempt at deflection. It does not make her any less guilty to reveal (whether true or not) other people/issues. As a matter of fact it shows a great weakness on your behalf, that you're grasping for a little, itty, bitty grain of truth in your conviction of her being the chronic victim.

You have apparently (and probably to her great delight) bought into her whole 'woe is always me' routine hook, line and sinker.
You may feel that you only print the truth and you may actually believe it to be. That's where you are not objective. In this case, I question your source and believe you are biased. I'm not talking about being in bed with the wrong people-your are deflecting again. I am saying that you, as much of an investigator that you fancy yourself to be, cannot be that good considering whom you defend and the lack of the realization of the truth that is staring you right in the face.
PS: PLEASE go get MOE paperwork and documentation on the matter at hand- your concentrated efforts might expose the obvious to you.
PSS: If you decline to thoroughly research the one which you defend, at least open a dictionary and investigate the word dupe.
Sleepless I understand that you probably buy into every little detail that has been presented to you by way of the press or your group up in the Borough Building. In this town, there is selevtive justice. What Dytko did with the credit card was STUPID but in no way was it criminal. If it was criminal, then why didn't the DA arrest Dawn Lane and Dawn Samborski. The true reason is because I guarantee you they never were told of the others. There is no policy in place that states that the cards were not to be used for personal purchases. Don't get me wrong... That does not make it right that these cards were used but again What all three had done is not criminal. Also if you checked the credit card invoices you will see that on July 3, 06, purchases for a large amount of candy (penny) was purchased by Dawn Lane. There was only one individual throwing out candy in the parade and it was not Dytko or Lane. There was also many other questionable purchases made by individuals that could not possibly be for borough use. People other than Dytko, Lane and Symborski. There was no mention of this by Lane or anyone and I personally want to find where these items have gone off to.
You have people in public works department that sold off man hole covers and other metals that was the borough's property and took the funds and placed them in a private hunting clubs account. The Chief was given receipts from the sale but never went after the individuals. WHY?
I guess the chief taking off once a week to golf with the mayor at your taxpayers expense is okay too.
I understand you will never see my point and I probably will never see yours. The point I was making was what Dytko did was Not Criminal yet the people who are breaking the law everyday continue to do so with your blessing and others.
I remember as a young boy growing up in Brentwood and how great it was. Now you have little thugs walking around this town thinking they are "want a be" gang members. You can watch drug purchases all day long just across from the High School. This town is in a downward spiral and many refuse to see it or do anything about it. And as always, it is "Typical Brentwood' to vilify the people who dare speak up against it. If this is the type of local government you want and you don't have a problem with the drugs and thugs then I guess you are supporting the right people. Soon we can call this town Mount Brentwood.
Bottom line is that if the DA could not press charges against Ms.Dytko then he would not have so apparently buying things with the boroughs credit card is criminal or else she would not have been taken in handcuffs and booked on those charges. So I guess you are saying that the DA is also corrupt and is in the Brentwood political ring with everyone else that has it out for Ms. Dytko. Ms Dytko is no angel and should not be rewarded by those who think she is. She is a liar, a cheat and a mean and nasty woman. SHE for the most part, started this political crap that is going on up on that council today. Don't be too quick to say that others heads will not roll over things they have done. I am a better and bet Ms. Dytko wasn't the only person the DA has investigated.
I dont' know who you get your information from but I know that the street crew was investigated and received a letter from the ethics board stating that there was no wrong doing by their part. I guess you missed that council meeting!
Just one more thing, you are all so worried about what the Chief does and doesnt' do. He is on call 365 days a year 24 hours a day, he does not get overtime for being called out to a homicide or anything else that he gets woken to be at. I know PLENTY of people that go golfing for good causes on their companies time, it is not the end of the world the man went golfing. You have NO idea what his days or nights may bring or how many hours overtime he works. He is a person with a family and deserves time off just like most of the world gets. He is not perfect and either is anyone else because if we lived in a perfect world those thugs wouldn't be moving in and Ms. Dytko wouldn't have broken the law several times and you would have an open mind instead of denying the truth.
Oh Please, Give me a break. If the Chief is so wonderful and works so hard this borough would not be in the shape it is in. If it is so wonderful then by all means stay here but look around you at all the for sale signs and for me I'M OUT OF HERE! You can stay with all your group and soon this town will be like Mt. Oliver, or worse. Enjoy.

Take a look around you and you will see time is changing and most of the safe communities are no longer safe, Brentwood is not in such bad shape because of ONE man! Be fair!!! OH I forgot you still don't think what Ms Dytko did wasn't criminal. HMMM... she is one of the problems why Brentwood is getting a bad name and is in the shape it is in!
I did not say Brentwood is wonderul (it was but not now) or the chief is wonderful so don't put words in my mouth! All I am saying is you cannot judge what this man does on a daily basis because you are not him and have no idea what his day brings him. Some of us have experienced people that have or has had a job that required him/her to be on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It is not fun missing that loved one on a holiday or them being pulled away when it is supposed to be your time with them. Just answer me one question, do you give your employer 110%??? I bet not! I am sure that you are not "working" every second of the time you are at your job. Like I said be fair. If an investigation provided no evidence of wrong doing, unlike the evidence of one Ms. Dytko, who is the real criminal here?

Actually found that they did not have enough evidence to go forward. Just because the mayor put his own SPIN on it does not make it gospel. If you believe that the chief is doing such a wonderful job continue to pay and pay and pay.
Apparently I didn't read the same article as you because the article I read said that there will be a trial. IF there isn't enough evidence then why didn't she give the magistrate the chance to drop the charges?? The Mayor didn't need to put any spin on anything to make it gospel, Ms. Dytko's actions made it live and in color!!!
You know YOU CAN'T HANDLE you keep putting words in my mouth. I did not say that the chief was doing a great job. There is a lot of things he could be doing different. I am just merely pointing out that he is not the downfall of Brentwood AND I am also trying to make the point that EVERY single person on this blog does NOT give their 110% to their employers. The big difference is that YOU and I are not under such a tight microscope as he is. Yeah he applied for the job and he knew what he was getting himself into OR did he? Dealing with coucil and its 3 rings is not easy especially when you have a change in the ring masters position as often as it does, especially when the ring master gets all the other clowns and forms a gang to go after so many. The Chief is only one of many in that paths fury!!! JUST maybe if the council got along and the inner circle worked as a team, JUST MAYBE things would change in the right direction and the he/she said, he/she did, he/she didn't would stop.

In regards to where I receive my information, it is accurate and not as obviously as slanted as yours. I guess her prior felony convictions were not criminal, just stupid, too? Newsflash, if something is not right then it is WRONG!
When I do BUY anything, rest assured that it at least is from my own hard earned dollars.
I will never see your point because in order for you to prove your point, it is so clustered in with other points to deflect and excuse the one in which you are so steadfast. My correspondence with you at this time has nothing to do with trying to change your opinion-you're too much of a lost cause for that-rather it is for others to bear witness to your futile rantings.
Finally, do not presume whom I give my blessings to. If anyone is in the judgment business, you seem quite busy.
As far as our local government is concerned, I am glad that it is now one 'thug' short.

I do believe that a similar matter of hers was handled in the court of law some years ago. Apparently, that outcome has no bearing on your conscience otherwise I would expect you to have been a little more cautious in your unwaivering support.
Due to her lying on paperwork or omissions of truth, we were subjected to ten years of her 'common' government. In her tenure, Brentwood became the laughing stock of all South Hills governments. Anyone who has ever been in her presence at any function can attest to her 'tell it like it is' approach on issues was more the rantings of an uneducated person and downright fool. Things that popped out of her mouth made people cringe, but there was always some ardent supporter or sidekick (like yourself) who thought she was the second coming and supported her and continues to support her in the face of the truth that surrounds you.
Court of public opinion is one thing. Tales of her outlandish behavior have circulated for years. Handling this in a court of law - wonderfully appropriate - however since you did not take heed from her previous brushes with the law that have been exposed, I'm not going to hold my breath for you to see the light on this one, either.
The only point we can agree on is that perhaps it would be better for you to move on to another community. Brentwood would fair better being one 'thug' less on council and another FOM short, but I think your moving is an exaggeration. Your loyal support of her speaks volumes of your nature - clearly your a glutton for punishment.
PS: A little piece of advice: You are only as good as the company you keep. Try being your own man instead of someones propaganda machine. You may have the potential for great things. You can't soar with eagles when you confine yourself to swimming with what trash ends up in the town sewer.
If I am not mistaken we might be less one thug on council now, but we gain a thug in January...Let us not forget who you people voted in to fill one of these seats. Everyone is getting emotional and wanting to take sides, but let's look at the facts.
1. I have a sheet in my possession, which is a list of credit cards and who has them and who has had them in the past. Why is it that Mr. K is on this list? Does anyone know? Who's job is it up at the borough building to cancel these things? The credit card was activated on 11/2/99. When did he retire? What year? So why did he have a card for so long. It was inactivated on 6/22/07. Is'nt he the one who stood up in front of everyone at the meeting and said he never had a credit card?
2. Why is it that the mayor is getting kickbacks from his buddy the mechanic? No one's mechanic that I know gives golf outings because you take your car there. This is REALLY flaky. What is behind this? Nothing in life is free...did you ever hear that saying!
By the way, I still have not seen the new police car and my intelligence was insulted at the last meeting when the mayor said he would only patrol the car in the day, so that people could get used to what it looks like. Excuse me, I am intelligent enough to know what a police car looks like, Mr. Mayor. Give me a break!
3. Our chief applied for the job, I don't want to hear about sob stories that he is on call and deserves to go golfing while on the clock. It just so happens that he is not the only person on call in this world. Many of us are on call, we have applied for a job knowing the responsiblities and what is required. It's no excuse for taking off and going golfing. As far as I am concerned, there have been felonies taking place in this borough and he has not shown up. What's the excuse for this?
We are paying him a decent wage and I don't get the warm and fuzzy, if you know what I mean. I also have heard stories that he does'nt want to use our drug dog and we don't have a DARE program. Again, what the excuse?
All we as tax payers are asking for is that everyone DO YOUR JOB that you were hired or elected to do. Is that too much to ask? Everybody seems to be sitting back and enjoying a paycheck, but not doing the best they can do. There has to be some check and balances in this. I am tired of seeing Baldwin and Whitehall police on Brownsville Road, more than I see the Brentwood police. Maybe our police should merge, maybe then we would be more efficient.
4. Has our treasurer made any other deals with anyone else in the borough building to take out interest free loans on our credit cards? If so, why is she still employed?
If you truly want to fix the problems of Brentwood NO ONE should be safe. EVERYONE should be investigated including the newcomers coming into office in January. That is the only way to fix things. You cannot just pick and choose who you want to stay and who you want to go. This is ridiculous. I am sick and tired of the petty arguing and the making excuses for everyone. You can only fix things when you acknowledge that problems exist. Denial is not a solution. WAKE UP EVERYONE!!

I hope your ready to be charged with libel. Your hand might be called on this one. Make sure you get all your documentation ready to be produced in a court of law because you may be receiving a supboena real soon.

Unlike you I only print the truth. You got in bed with the wrong group and that is something you have to live with. You can only be charged with libel when you report something that is untrue. Get your group of reporters that you may have and we will see you in court. Just one problem....for you, you make have to make youself known. My paper work is ready and waiting......
Can't Handle it. I remember hearing about the tax collector some years back. There was a gentleman who had all kinds of things on her, but as usual he left town because the police kept going after him and a few of his family members, which should be no surprise. Someone also called and reported it to the State Ethics if I am correct of which when they came to investigate the Mayor and Chief covered it up and had one of the girls in the tax office lie for her and say she didn't know anything, which did not save their jobs anyway because that council made sure they were gone. Thats also the reason they got rid of the old Borough Secretary she knew to much about that crew so when she got ill they moved on her. Thats when they shortly got Ann Scott and that Dawn Lane in ? Here is a good question why did both these people leave there wonderful positions of Borough Secretary and Manager. I know Scott was running because Baldwin was coming after her but new council that includes her brother covered her up. Lane she had to leave also , I don't know if it was that she was having an affair with the Chief there and then they both got divorced and married each other or what the deal is. I do know she liked passing out adult magazines to her publicworks crew. Guess thats why they like her here. Maybe Sick and Tired is close to this, which is why the dramatics.

Talk about hatred and dislike on a person , you are just as bad or even worse. I think the whole Borough has been sold out for years. This didn't
just start with Dytko she may have brought it all to a head now. Take them all down or touch none! Brentwood does have a way of selective evil. There have been things going on for years , heck until another municipality called, let me correct that, county, to tell us about sexual prediters in our area then low and behold the Chief tells us, surprise. When was the last major drug bust in Brentwood, when we know that its all around us. This doesn't include someone with a funny cigarette or a little more. Everyone knows who one of the major dealers in the area are, its not a secret, they also know to whom this person is related to in the Borough Building and why he will never get stopped by Brentwood. Sleepless sounds to me as if your skeletons have been exposed is that why you can't sleep. I would like to see what Can't Handle This Has. I am sure it would be of interest. This town would be a great book to write
from its scandals thats why its the best place to live according to the Post Gazzette, who writes a bunch of bunk.

Apparently, talking dirt on people is quite easy for you: affairs, adult magazines, cover-ups, etc... Must be one of those extraordinary powers you possess.

Your comment of bringing all down or touch none - is the self-proclaimed crime fighter suggesting anarchy in lieu of justice being served? Those of weak wills and minds on council have allowed evil to thrive. Clearly you are guardian to this as you tolerate wolves in sheep clothing. It is a riddle to me as to why you would reduce unlawful acts to someone being 'rough around the edges'. What a joker, you are. That cat is a leopard who has not changed their spots. A penguins black and white (and striped) uniform would be fitting.
If it is your intent to stop crime, you cannot condone it when a decision favors your whim. Excuses make you an enabler of evil as well.
