What is going on with the DARE program now? Our mayor decided that we do not have an officer for the dare program. Isn't it true that Officer Mizel (not sure of the spelling) is already trained to be a dare officer? Did anyone see that now the school is investigating if the school officer can even go to DARE training? Why can't Officer M spend a couple of hours each month going to the schools for DARE? Why is this such a big deal? It seems simple to me. You already have an officer trained. He does not have to be at the elementary schools 24/7. This is ridiculous and a waste of tax dollars to train someone new when you already have a trained officer. I believe council is in the process of hiring additional officers as we speak, so being shorthanded is not going to be an excuse for much longer. By the way, why does the mayor have a DARE plate on his truck if he does not want to be bothered with this program? I don't get it!

Also, I just rode through Homestead tonight, and I have to say that their wreaths are lit up and there wasn't one bulb burned out. They looked soooo nice. Our public works department should be ASHAMED. Our wreaths and angels look TERRIBLE. It's EMBARASSING!Why even bother putting them up? What a waste. I hope if someone is going to the meeting something gets said, because as a taxpayer that is a disgrace. If Homestead's wreaths are lit and look nice, surely we can do it too. COME ON PUBLIC WORKS, FIX THE DANG LIGHTS!
