H-E-L-L-O,
Stop thinking about yourself for one moment and think about the elderly members in your family. I hope you tell your elderly parents or grandparents how much they mean to you as often as you can.
These senior citizens who are your grandparents, some are your parents, some may be friends of the family, have helped shape your life in one way or another. Growing up in my day seniors had total respect.
When I was growing up seniors ruled. We were taught not to talk back to the elderly, not to even look at them funny if they scold us. We were taught to respect the elderly no matter what they said or did. Unfortunately, that isn't the case with some kids today.
My grandparents meant the world to me. I stayed by my grandmothers side through out her life, and her death. I loved and still love her so very much, if it wasn't for her, I would not exist today.
My grandmother instilled in me things that I will never forget. My grandmother told me "To love and respect elderly people for all of my days". I am consumed and very concerned with issues for the elderly. I see my grandparents in all the elderly people that I help.
I started a non profit organization called "The Golden Age Network Inc". We should celebrate our seniors as often as we can. I am very disheartened that I am having a hard time finding sponsors to help us with our celebration for Grandparents Day which is Sept 9TH.
Most people don't even realize this day is on the calender. I am trying to organize a great day for grandparents at the Carnegie Library in Homestead on Sunday Sept 9TH...I need sponsors to provide gifts and food for our celebration. I would like to set up tables so companies can provide information that seniors would be interested in.
I would like to have entertainment and most of all, I would like to see grandchildren walk up to the podium and tell their grandparents how much they mean to them. I wish my grandparents was still alive today. It has been 5 years since my grandmother passed away and I still cry like it was yesterday.
If you can help us get this celebration off the ground or would like to donate something towards this special day in honor of your grandparents... please log onto our website. I would love to hear stories about your grandparents also. Please forward this page to anyone who may be able to help. God Bless
