The Jefferson Hills Library will reopen its doors Sunday, January 20th. With the needed renovations complete, the library looks fantastic. The comments so far have been that it is light, airy and the carpeting is beautiful. It is now more adaptable to future changes in library services, in serving the community.

Watch for an announcement of the forthcoming "grand reopening." However, all are welcome to stop in, on and after Sunday, to look around and enjoy the new setting.

Many thanks have to go out to a number of people:

* First, to State Senator Pippy for the grant money he was able to attain.

* Then, to the former Jefferson Hills Councilors, Dr. Kulich and past President Brian Miltzer, for their assistance and for generously donating their council salaries to the library for so many years, and believing in the benefits of a community library. And a thank you goes out to current councilor Dominic Seripiglia for all the same reasons.

* Efforts by other councilors, the solicitor and borough manager, who may have assisted behind the scenes, are appreciated.

* Last but not least, a special thanks to Jan Reschenthaler, Library Director, all the library staff, and Friends of the Library for all the hard work to make this all happen.

To quote U.S. Steel Chairman JOHN SURMA, ”we know that a library promotes literacy and learning, and also stabilizes and strengthens our community.
