i have to know what fool gave this man a life time contract??????
All of you people make me sick, all you people do is find ways to destroy other people's lives, and to pick on people. I would love to see this community come together and make some postive comments about our chief and about our mayor. It is obvious to me that none of you personally know these two wonderful men and all that they have done for this community. My advice to you people, get a life.
I agree - what a shame that this has to go on in our nice borough. The people of the borough elected these people and they will pay the price for it. I honestly dont think that certain people on this council want to see us move forward - they just want to stir things up. I agree that certain changes may need to be made but this whole thing is ridiculous.
although i agree with you brentwood is a nice place, i should know i have lived there 44 years and i am 3rd generation. i do feel as though it has been better. back in the day the police officers knew each and every child in the community. this included the good kids along with the kids that would on occasion get into trouble. does this present force know any of these kids. i know of one that does and it sure is not the chief. i remember when the chief rode around in a police car, and spoke with the kids in this community. our present chief does nothing except run from party to party and political event with the mayor. i have seen this first hand. its time that the contract was reviewed. its time that we residents take back our community. and as tax payers and residents we have the right to complain... and that i will do until something is done... that is MY RIGHT
I agree completely, I was one of those kids that the police new personally. Not only did they know the kids personally they knew our parents. Growing up here was a wonderful experience and now I am raising my family here but I am starting to debate whether this small town will ever be back to they way it should. We have a serious drug problem that everyone seems to want to ignor!! I have atleast 4 drug addicts/dealers living on my street alone, please get with it and pay attention to what is happening right in front of you. We pay one of the highest taxes in the county but our town is falling apart. We need to get the people out that don't believe in our community and our people.
i found a needle in my front yard several years ago. i called the police and one of them picked it up and removed it from my yard. 2 weeks later i approached the cheif of police and asked him if we could have patrols in my neighborhood due to the rising drug problem. his response to me was there is no drug problem and until we get a detail in your neighborhood you will get no patrols. i thought he was joking and i said to him that i will be a pain in your butt until we get patrols in this neighborhood. i told him that i will sit in the lobby and wait and i as i said thought he was joking so i said it joking back. he got real rude and said to me that i will be sitting in the lobby for ever waiting for patrols. when i saw the attitude i told him that if i am out in the lobby i will be sitting there with channel 2,4,and 11. see the chief could not talk about the problem because he was too busy and had to get into the fire department and watch the election results. which he is not allowed to do. he is not allowed to be political. i miss my community i miss the closeness of brentwood. i can remember when my dad died when i was a kid and i think that everyone in that boro was at our house. keeping us busy bringing food or just sitting with us.... those where sure the old days
Trust me we all know about the drug problem in Brentwood, no one is blind. But I don't think everyone understands what has to go into a drug bust. I have a criminal justice background so let me explain. Police can not just go and arrest someone because someone calls them and says a drug deal just happened. If they were to arrest that person because of a phone call, and come to discover that person doesn't have any drugs on them, the borough is looking at a very large lawsuit. Also because we are such a small community, you need the county narcotic agents to assist in drug busts and investigations. As for the police officers not knowing any of the kids anymore, I got news for you, they do. I can't tell you how many times I have called the police about kids causing trouble in the neighborhoods and they pulled up and called all the kids by their names, I see them saying hi to the kids that don't cause trouble either. And everyone yelling and causing a scene about our chief, have you ever thought that yelling at him and calling him names, might make him not want to come out and associate with the public. Be honest if a community is yelling at you and saying false things about you, I can gaurantee you would be moving out of this borough.
FIRED UP mentiones the Chief does not come out among the public because he may face some riticule for the job that he is not doing. I would think if a individual thought that his/her job was on the line that they would get off their butt and do some work. Not hide in his office!
At last months Council meeting the Chief stated that there was 43 parking citations issued. (give or take one or two) We have two meter readers. If they worked 25 days out of the month at a minimum of four hours each per person, that would break down to less than ONE ticket per meter reader per day! At $5.00 per ticket that would total to $10.00 revenue per day. If they are getting paid $8.00 and worked a minimum of four hours each per day that would cost the borough about $64.00 per day. At this rate it would be cheaper to have FREE PARKING!
FIRED UP mentioned that the Chief's hands are tied when it comes to making a drug arrest. When is the last time the Chief went to the County or the State for some outside help? What happened to having a DARE officer? What happened to Brentwood's involvment in the Drug Task Forcce? Yet FIRED UP AND OTHERS FEEL THE CHIEF IS DOING SUCH A WONDERFUL JOB. Do you want more examples? I would be happy to supply more FACTS!
hey bob, how do you know that the chief hasn't already? does he have to clear that with you or something? yeah that would be a good idea, lets let everyone know that we are thinking about doing a drug bust, so that they won't know it's coming and we can't catch them off guard.
He must pay you a lot to defend him so strongly. He is no better than the criminals that are walking around this community that he refuses to do anything about!!! And I feel it is a bad thing that they know the kids that are causing problems, shouldn't they know the good ones too? And like I said they knew the parents also, and there is only one who is like that anymore. Lets see how fast they can push him out of here. The chief doesn't like anyone taking his, none deserved, glory.
Jennieg, You hit the nail right on the head. The people who defend the actions of Chief Butelli and the Mayor are the ones that want to "keep thing the way they are now". Look around and make your own evaluation. Do you remember how Brentwood was under Mayor Joyce? Even Ron Arnoni was better. Ron was young and unexperienced but still was on of the best Mayors Brentwood ever seen. Ron wasn't trying to get things for himself and his family. When he was Mayor, the 4th of July Committee was given $5000.00 ( from the 5k Race )to help pay for the 4th celebration. This Mayor did not give anything close. Keep in mind every name on a banner pays about $5000.00 and every name on the shirts the runners wear pays about $500.00 not to mention about 1000 runners who pay $15.00. Do the math! I am not saying that I am totally accurate but I am damn close! Wouldn't you like to see where the money is going? I would! Getrdone is probably one of the two fromer council members that was VOTED OUT this past election. Thank heaven for that! More people like you and brentwoodchick should speak out and let EVERYONE in this borough their personal experiences with the Chief and or the Mayor.
Bob Jeffers
Congratulations on using your name to write in this forum. I like to keep you guessing......
As far as the money being raised from the 5K race - do you really think that they hand it over to the Mayor for his own personal use because that is what you are implying. Why dont you ask the present council members how much it is costing the Brentwood Taxpayers for this council to instruct the Solicitor (by the way we have (2)(talk about a waste of tax dollars) - to try to open up any of the contracts or agreements that were drawn up by the previous administration. These solicitors dont even know how to respond to questions regarding Borough business. Have you even bothered to question the charges that they submit???? I have not heard anything from you about that..... I guess your priority's are a little messed up. You are just focusing on the Mayor and Police Chief - try looking at the big picture here.. We have a council president who sits idly by while the council vice president trys to run the whole show, including every department - she was the very cause of much dissention when she was in office the last time and a lot of the problems that are going on now reflect her mismanagement then. OPEN YOU EYES AND YOUR EARS WIDE MR JEFFERS, (SOME PEOPLE HAVE INTERESTING STORIES TO TELL) I AM WILLING TO BET THAT WITH THIS CURRENT ADMINISTRATION - THINGS WILL GET WORSE BEFORE THEY EVER GET BETTER........
I get a kick reading some of the garbage some of you write. Fired UP, you need a open your eyes and see what is really happening in this borough. Since I am the only one who has the guts to use my own REAL name, I am going to give you some facts.
The mayor was asked at a recent council meeting if he was given a computer that was bought with grant money. One meeting he said "No" and the very next meeting he admitted to having one and said he deserved it because he got the grant. Then there is the guardrail in front of the mayor's inlaws. It was voted on a tuesday and installed in two days. Gee how did that happen sooo fast!
The mayor controlled a $5000.00 grant that was given to Crimewatch. With that grant he gave the 5K race (which he controlls) $250.00 and Fourth of July committee $250.00. Let's keep in mind folks that it is unlawful to use grant money for anything other than it'ws intended purpose. The mayor's bookeeping of the funds could of been done better by a kid in high school. There are bank missing statments from 11/024/03,5/03,10/04,5/05,6/05, and 7/05, not to mention, check 105,124,and 126, missing from the documentation that is on record in the borough building for anyone to see.
As far as the Chief, don't get me started but the Mayor insisted that the chief took a half day vacation or personal day every time they went golfing. I would love to see how many days he accounted for! If any. Yea, I may get up at every meeting and ask questions but do you think it is fair to the people who elected the Mayor to have a total disregard of the law and YOUR tax dollars?
awww how cute everyone, it's Mary Dytko's puppet, that pumps him full of information to use infront of council to make herself look good. Congrats for using your real name, not that it matters, everyone knows what a pain you are. My eyes are open, unfortunately yours are not.
Hey Fierd Up if you really want to open your eyes ask the Mayor to meet you and me at any time at any place and bring the ledgers, check book, and canceled checks from the 5 K race. If he is all that you say he is, he should have no problem with doing that. As far a being Dytko's pupet, I was attending Council meetings before she got on and after she got off and will continue to do so. Care to share with us who you really are? "No" I didn't think so!
Mr. Jeffers:
How do you know all this information regarding the Mayor and the checkbooks/grants? I guess there are very long strings and a little voice helping you along. Do I hear allegations of stealing coming from your comments??? HMMM lets just say I think your puppet master should not throw stones especially when living in a glass house!
You are at the council meetings enough, if you think you can do a better job run yourself and straighten out the borough issues at hand instead of listening to your puppet master and being a "used" sounding voice! Better yet why don't you just apply for the job you are trying so hard to strip from the Chief and see just how wonderful a job it is with this current council. Make sure you cut those puppet strings first though you may get choked by them once your hired!!!
It does not surprise me at all that you think that Ron Arnoni did a great job while being the Mayor of Brentwood. WHAT A JOKE!!! The only thing he did was put Brentwood into a bigger debt, raise taxes that he could not bare to pay any longer so he moved to Bethel Park. Apparently the citizens in Bethel Park think he is a political joke too beings he lost his race to be a councilman there!
