Brentwood school directors are "reeling" after the death of board Vice President Claudia Balach, a professor and administrator in Slippery Rock University's education department.

"It's just so awful to think of not having her there," said school board member Julia McCarthy. "This was so, so unexpected. She had so many strengths and her service was quite a gift to Brentwood schools."
