How embarassing is it to be A Brentwood resident lately. Seeing the Mayor make A total fool out of himself with this pettiness going on with council and police. Now thanks to him and the chief, the residents have to put up with not only another suit but also one that he stated that he and the chief are going to file because he states they were slandered by someone telling the truth. Well Mr. Mayor, if you are so concerned that there is some kind of conspirecy against you and the chief, why dont you ask A outside agency such as the FBI or D.A.'s office to investigate? Afraid they might uncover something else?. I have been told that the chief's car(blue impala) has been seen at Starlake or whatever it is called these days, Slippery Rock, and there is even A statement it went to Florida on vacation. Also that another police officer has been filling it with fuel from other cars and that its card has almost never been used.Do you have answers to all this? Maybe its our council that is finally trying to do something and hold people such as yourself and the chief accountable. This is the taxpayers money. And to bring and outside Police agency in to search is A total embarassement in itself. We have some police officers who are quiet capable of investigations, The one thing that they lack is good leadership.I believe council is doing A good thing here, though I dont always agree with them, but I am standing behind them on this one. Every Brentwood resident should.

Doesn't the mayor have responsibilities and duties granted to him by state law, as in the mgmt of the police dept? How can council legally take those duties away from him, or attempt to? Mayor Lockhart is in the right as far as what I've been told, and council seems to be "power Hungry" here. Maybe an ego thing driven by false rumors. They need to get to work on real issues.

Well Wesley, first I have to wonder your position and motives. Once I can get pasted that, I think then I can answer you. The Mayor's "powers" are defined by "The Borough Code", as well as that of Council. I think that the recent debates are not all that BIG in nature actually.

(1). Does Council have the right to monitor gas prices and usage in Borough vehicles ??

(2). Should there be a checks and balance of department heads concerning their duties and responsibilities.

(3). Do the Union employees have a "property interest" in their contracts and then the ability to negotiate terms and conditions of said contracts. If the answer is yes, then do the employees deserve to have those conditions honored and does council not have the fiscal responsibility to reach the most amicable terms as is required by the employees contracts.

You see Wesley, the Mayor is actually similiar to the Queen of England. Hypothetically the Ruler but actually just a political / ceremonial figure head. Don't belive me.... Look it all up.

Thank You !!

Thank you very much for the reply, I appreciate the explanation. My answer is the British Parliment certainly treats the Queen with the respect she is due, and I think that you folks on Coucil should treat our good dedicated mayor with a little of the same. Don't look for things to challenge him on, the mayor and the chief (man of the year)have their responsibilities and the council should tend to their own as far as I can see. I just wish that there were another party in town like there used to be to keep you all on your toes.
