Autisim, Insurance and HB1150 Dying in the Senate
Tags:
Legislative Bill HB1150, which requires Insurance Carriers to provide coverage for Autism Services, passed the PA House with a vote of 194 to 0. The bill now sits in the Pa Senate Banking and Insurance Committee, chaired by Senator Donald White. Although it was passed unanimously by the House, nothing much is happening with this needed legislation.
It appears that Senator White is going to just let this bill die in his committee. Is it possible that he knows much more about autism, insurance and HB1150 than the 194 legislators that voted in favor of it. His occupation is listed as an Insurance Broker.
Senator Pippy is also a member of this committee.
This illness is putting a huge burden on parents and families to care for and improve the quality of life of these children as they grow. This is now epidemic proportions. Families need help now, and sufficient funds must be provided for research to conquer thus dreaded affliction. No child is immune from it
The grass roots can make a difference, by contacting both Senator Pippy and Senator Donald White, encouraging both to move this bill for a vote by the entire Senate. More information and sample letters are available on the web site: http://www.jeffersonhills.us.
Please do not wait – take action! Someone you now know or someone that you will know is going to benefit.
